Mexico
6 - 20 February 2019
Our Mexico immersion is run in association with Esperanza International. We travel to Tijuana, Mexico to assist in the construction of homes for the local community. While in Mexico we will also spend a number of days in a children's home, Fr Jamie's Clinic for disabled children, Mother Teresa's soup kitchen and visit local community centres.
In Los Angeles, participants will tour Homeboy Industries to gain an understanding of how social enterprise works. Here they will meet young men and women who have left gang involvement to form strong communities and discover their future.
This experience highlights the injustice of Tijuana's situation, but also reveals the love and compassion of the people who run these organisations, and who strive everyday to make their city a better place.
